Red Light, Yellow Light, Green Light, Gooooo…

I must say that the last few weeks for me have been a time of many dreams. It has definitely been a time of flushing out the ole spiritual pipes. Although I haven’t had this many dreams in quite a while, I have seemed to dream more in the last few weeks than all of my dreams in the last year. I know that may sound odd, knowing I teach dreams and interpret so many others’ dreams. Over the last few years I have taught on dreams and interpreted so many dreams that were not my own but understand, I was still hearing the Lord. Let me explain.

I have taught many that there are times when we may have many dreams, or our dreams slow to a crawl or they may stop for a season altogether. They can pretty much act like a traffic light for sure! There was a time quite a few years past that I had so many dreams within two and a half years that I had to ask the Lord to “stop” them. Then not long after that, I went through a long season when I stopped dreaming almost altogether. Because I didn’t understand, I thought God might be mad at me, but, what God taught me during that time is what it really meant. I believe now is a good time to remind some of us and even share with those who have never understood what these times actually mean when they occur in our life.

When we go through times of less or no dreams, God is still speaking to us. Let’s look at it with this example: A watchman on an ancient wall in the daytime would know if someone was coming by using what senses? Their sight mainly and hearing. Right? But, what about the watchman who is on the night shift? How do they know when someone is coming? They have to use their other senses rather than their sight. They have to use mainly their hearing, their touch to feel the change of the atmosphere and even taste at times. So, when you can’t see your dreams like they you have in the past, notice if you are using your other senses more now to hear what God is saying to you.

But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Hebrews 5:14

So now let’s look at another reason for our dream flow to stop. One word… REST. When we are in a restful place whether in dreaming or in other forms, it is so we can be ready for the next place, event, or work to be fulfilled. It is no different when we rest at night to prepare for the next day’s work. So, what about when we have too many dreams? I like to use the word “flushing” to express these dreams. I believe when we are ready to move forward in certain areas we need our spiritual pipes flushed out so that the flow of the Spirit can work well within us. I also believe that there are times when we may get full of the cares of the world or the hindrances of the enemy and God will flush our pipes of the impurities. The good news is that there is usually a time of rest following the flushing out of the ole spiritual pipes so to prepare us for our new territory, adventure, or task.

No matter where we are in our walk with the Lord, He is still speaking to us. He doesn’t stop speaking just because we aren’t listening. He may have just simply shifted gears in order to fulfill His perfect will through us. I hope this encourages you as you learn and grow to know. Blessings to you all and may your hearts be renewed!
